
Engine 3 Provides Mutual Aid to Lyndhurst FD
Today, ERFD Engine 3 provided mutual aid assistance to Lyndhurst FD for a residential structure fire. Lyndhurst FD reports:
At 0149 hours, the Lyndhurst Fire Department was dispatched to 222 Summit Avenue on several 9-1-1 reports of a residential structure fire. On arrival, heavy fire was showing from the Bravo and Delta side, and the Bravo Exposure was in serious threat of becoming involved in fire due to flames impinging on its exterior siding. 32-00 Chief Abruscato assumed command while 32-10 Asst. Chief Rodriguez assumed Operations, and 32-20 Asst. Chief Ferrara assumed Safety. 32-E1 was first due on scene and stretched an 1 3/4” to the second floor to initiate in interior attack with tank water. While the second 1 3/4” exposure line was operating on the Bravo Exposure, it was learned part of the second floor had already been compromised by fire and completely burned through. A momentary evacuation order was given by 32-00. 32-E3 supplied E1 with a hydrant feed, and all hands went to work. Interior attack was resumed after accounting for all personnel on scene. Mutual Aid was received by Rutherford , East Rutherford, and North Arlington F.A.S.T./R.I.T. on scene as a 2nd Alarm. Nutley Engine 3 and East Rutherford Truck 1 provided house coverage. One Lyndhurst Firefighter was transported to the hospital with a leg injury.
